FLORENCE S. EDZIAH

FLORENCE S. EDZIAH

Florence Shine Edziah is currently an Assistant Laboratory Technologist in the Medical Laboratory Science department of the School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS), Ho.. She is an ambitious young lady with a strong academic background in Medical Laboratory Science with valuable experience in general healthcare delivery and performs general medical-based roles. She possesses an excellent written and oral communication skills acquired from academic and professional development.

Education

She is an alumnus of the University of Health and Allied Sciences with a Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science and also with a certificate in Epidemiology acquired from the University of Washington.

Work Experience

Florence served as a Teaching Assistant during her National Service at the University of Health and Allied Sciences during the 2017/2018 National Service year. She worked at the Ho Teaching Hospital as a Medical Laboratory Scientist from 2019 to 2020 where she was involved in sample processing for some research works held by the World Health organization and other individual researchers.

Science/Research Output

She played key roles as a research assistant and has been involved in processing samples for research works. Notable among these include the isolation of peripheral blood mononuclear cells for a research in Maternal and foetal T-cell response to Placental malaria-associated antigen VAR2CSA; screening of blood samples for malaria parasites and running of complete blood count on samples collected during a research in Immuno-biology of sexual stage antigen of plasmodium falciparum parasites. She assisted in the blotting of blood samples and screening for malaria parasites during the Malaria Vaccine Pilot evaluation by the World Health Organization.
