This course will prepare graduates to provide safe, quality and excellent Medical Imaging (MI) services to the patients in clinical settings. This is achieved through formal didactic, state-of-the-art clinical experiences that prepare students to be competent diagnostic radiographers, who are patient-care focused, with critical thinking abilities and who will engage in lifelong radiography research.

The department runs postgraduate programmes in Medical Imaging that will encompass all the major modalities of MI sciences to meet national and international demands. The postgraduate programmes are designed to produce advanced diagnostic and therapeutic radiography practitioners who can confidently and competently apply the science and art of medical imaging to help improve patient management. It is anticipated that the programmes will provide medical imaging practitioners with a deeper and an advanced understanding of the scientific principles, practical application and understanding of scientific investigation underlying the major imaging modalities used in radiography. The programmes will also equip practitioners with the skills needed to conduct rigorous scientific research in MI.

• Applicant must hold a first degree (at least 2nd class lower or 2.2) in Medical Imaging, Nuclear Medicine or related MI area from a recognised University. • Applicant must have at least two years work experience as a diagnostic or therapeutic radiographer, mammographer, sonographer or other related MI specialties. • Two reference statements/letters from professional and/or academic referees • Applicants must pass an admission interview • Ghanaian and foreign applicants are eligible to apply |

Interview Process» Back
All applicants who satisfy the entry requirements will be invited for an interview. Aside the academic entry requirements, this professional course also seeks to recruit students with good communication skills and a caring nature.
The interview is conducted in a friendly atmosphere and the interviewers will include members of the academic team and clinical tutors. The interview consists of a range of questions ranging from current affairs to ethical scenario-based questions. Applicants will also be assessed on their knowledge and interpersonal skills.

How will I be taught?
The Department of Medical Imaging (Radiography) is committed to developing students with knowledge which directly improves health outcomes and health care for patients. Top-quality teaching relies on academic and clinical expertise of lecturers and clinical tutors. Lectures, tutorials, workshops, presentations and specific group work are the main methods of teaching.
How will I be supported?
We do appreciate the fact that different students have different academic and clinical needs. As a result, each student will be allocated a personal tutor to provide one-on-one support. Faculty and staff of the department and school are available to assist students and provide support and advice. Each student will be allocated at least one supervisor to provide guidance and support.
Feedback
The lecturers and clinical tutors will provide you with feedback on your work and progress in a variety of ways. These will include oral feedback during tutorials, feedback provided during lectures, written and verbal feedback in relation to examinations and you can discuss your overall progress with your personal tutor. During clinical sessions, you will be supported in your progress by your clinical tutors who will provide verbal and written feedback and report on your clinical competency and progress.
How will I be assessed?
Assessments are conducted in theory examinations, written assignments, practical examinations, thesis, presentations and clinical assessments.
