Mrs. Deborah Naa Ayerkor Lamptey is an Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Speech and Hearing Sciences of the University of Allied Health Sciences, Ho. Prior to her appointment she was a Clinical Audiologist at the Hearing Assessment Centre of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital. Deborah is a member of Speech Therapist and Audiologist Association of Ghana and a Licensed member of the Allied Health Professions Council of Ghana. She is married with two children.
Education
Deborah holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science with a Psychology major from the University of Ghana, Legon and a Master of Science degree in Audiology from the School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Ghana.
Work Experience
Deborah worked for three years as a physical chemical analyst at the SGS Laboratory Services Limited, a multinational company, before pursuing a career in Audiology. Upon qualification, she practiced as a private clinical audiologist for two years, focusing on newborn hearing screening in maternity homes and polyclinics. Following this, she was appointed as Clinical Audiologist at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital where she worked for almost two years evaluating hearing in children and adults as well as supervising students on clinical practicum.
Science/Research Output
Deborah’s research interests are in the areas of industrial audiology and paediatric audiology. She has previously conducted research into occupational hearing loss among Ghanaian automobile sprayers workers exposed to industrial Chemicals and Noise.
