Education
He holds Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Science (Molecular Parasitology and Epidemiology) from Murdoch University, Western Australia, Master of Philosophy in Microbiology (Parasitology) and a Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences (Microbiology) from University of Ghana, Legon.
Work Experience
Prior to his appointment at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Dr Squire worked as graduate researcher at the Southern Agriculture Biotechnology Centre (SABC), Murdoch University, Western Australia and a Senior Biomedical Scientist at Ussher Polyclinic, Accra, Ghana. He also worked as a Biomedical Scientist at the Tamale Teaching hospital, Tamale, Northern region.
Science/Research Output
Dr. Daniel Sai Squire has experience in health related research with emphases on the malaria parasitaemia levels in relation to antioxidant enzyme levels in severe malaria amongst Ghanaian children, the effects of Plasmodium falciparum parasitaemia on haematological parameters among Ghanaian children, the epidemiology of gastrointestinal helminths in humans and farm animals and the risk factors and clinical outcomes associated with Trichomonas vaginalis infection among Ghanaian women.
He has specialist knowledge and skills in molecular parasitology and epidemiology. His research focuses on Molecular epidemiology of Protozoan parasitic infections, Neglected tropical protozoan parasitic diseases, Malaria in children, Zoonotic protozoan infection and Reactive oxygen species effects in diseases.
His doctoral work focused on the genetic and phenotypic variations of Trichomonas spp and their impact on clinical presentation and infection outcome in Ghana and Western Australia and culminated in a set of recommendations for clinicians and public health experts. He has presented his works at national and international conferences and has six (6) publications.
Dr.Squire is a member of the School of Allied Health Science Ethics Review Committee.
