NANA YAW BARIMAH MANAPHRAIM

 

yaw barimahMr. Nana Yaw Barimah Manaphraim is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences, of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho in Ghana. Prior to his appointment, he was a Senior Biomedical Scientist with the Ghana Health Service (Regional Hospital, Koforidua). He is a Medical Laboratory Scientists and a Medical Microbiologist.

EDUCATION

He had his Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science at the School of Allied Health Sciences (University of Ghana) and later pursued a Master of Philosophy degree in Microbiology at the University of Ghana Medical School (University of Ghana).

WORK EXPERIENCE

He practiced as a Medical Laboratory Scientist for 4 years. He was the Regional focal person for the Schistosomiasis and Soil Transmitted Helminthiasis control program by World Health Organization and Neglected Tropical Diseases (WHO&NTD). He also served as the Focal person for the elimination of lymphatic filariasis by the WHO&NTD. He has served as a facilitator for the Workshop on blood donation, Ghana Health Service/ National Blood Service, Ghana/ Eastern Regional Hospital, Koforidua, amongst others.

He also Lectured at the Koforidua Technical University, Radford University College, and All Nations University College where he taught in the Departments of Physician Assistantship, Medical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Engineering and Nursing.

SCIENCE/ RESEARCH OUTPUT

He has research interest in the areas of infectious disease epidemiology (schistosomiasis, malaria, lymphatic filariasis and soil transmitted helminthiasis), zoonotic infections/diseases, as well as nervous disorders (Epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, etc) of infectious microbial origin.
