Ms. Kofi-Bediako is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). She is a member of the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), a registered physiotherapist and a member of the Ghana Physiotherapy Association (GPA).
Education
Ms. Kofi- Bediako holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Ghana, Legon, a Postgraduate certificate in Occupational Safety, Health and Environment Management from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and she holds a Master’s degree in Human factors and ergonomics from the University of Nottingham, UK.
Work Experience
Prior to joining UHAS, Ms. Kofi-Bediako worked as the Physiotherapist-in-charge at the Trust Specialist Hospital (Osu) for two years. She worked as a Physiotherapist at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) for two and a half years after serving as a volunteer Physiotherapist at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) for six months. She underwent her physiotherapy internship training for a year at the Tema General Hospital (Tema). While at these posts she was an inspirational, proven leader with a knack for exceeding goals and achieving mile stones in her field.
Research Interests/ Output
Miss Kofi- Bediako’s interests lie in the field of ergonomics, health and safety. She is a Co- Founder of the (NPO) Chalè Foundation, Ghana and has served as the deputy secretary for the Ghana Physiotherapy Association (GPA). She also currently serves as the Physiotherapy Outreach Clinics Committee (POC) secretary and has personal interest in bringing awareness to workers in the informal and agricultural sector about work ergonomics and best practices to prevent injury.
In the field of research, her interests lie in human factors, ergonomics and workplace health and safety studies. Ms. Kofi- Bediako is a goal driven physiotherapist and ergonomist who wishes to make meaningful and profound impact in the lives of Ghanaians through ergonomics. She is an advocate who wishes to improve physiotherapy education and practice in Ghana through human factors and ergonomics, health and safety. She aims to provide a holistic solution to people’s musculoskeletal problems, improve workers performance and reduce injury through ergonomic assessment and sensitization.
