Adjoa N. Nkrumah is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences (SAHS), University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). She is a registered physiotherapist and belongs to the Ghana Physiotherapy Association (GPA).
Education
She was awarded her Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy at the University of Ghana, Legon and her Master’s degree in Physiotherapy with endorsement in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMT) at University of Otago, New Zealand.
Work Experience
Prior to joining the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Adjoa Nkrumah worked as a physiotherapist intern for a year at Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) after her undergraduate training, before moving to work at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) as a physiotherapist.
Research Interests/ Output
Ms Nkrumah’s interest is in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She also belongs to the paediatric special interest group of GPA and has recently developed interest in head injuries. She has a strong affinity to and is trained in the Ponseti method of clubfoot management, manipulative therapy, sports and exercise therapy and soft tissue techniques.
In the field of research, she is interested in mixed methods and qualitative designs to study non-communicable diseases with special interest in diabetes, stroke and clubfoot. She is currently exploring physical activity behaviours in risk groups and in persons living with chronic illness. She hopes to explore sport related concussions and disability sports in future.
