Mr. Joseph Thompson is a Principal Technician with the Department of Orthotics and Prosthetics of the School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences.
Education
Mr. Joseph Thompson started as a Mechanical Engineer. He holds an HND in Mechanical Engineering, a B.Tech in automobile Engineering and a BSc in Biomedical Engineering (Prosthetics and Orthotics).
He first joined the Profession of Prosthetics and Orthotics after taking a course in Prosthetics in the Tanzanian Training Centre for Orthopaedic Technologist (TATCOT). Further interest in the profession led him to KNUST where he read biomedical engineering for the practice of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Being the foundation President and the immediate past president of the Ghana Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics, he has been at the forefront of the development and establishment of both the Science and Profession of Prosthetics and Orthotics.
Work Experience
He practiced with the Ghana Health Service at the National Prosthetics and Orthotics Centre as Head of the Prosthetic Clinic between 2010 and 2018. He has also taught in the Br. Tarcicius Prosthetics and Orthotics Training College, Nsawam and the St. John of God College of Health, Duayaw Nkwanta. He has special interest in Paediatric prosthetics.
