Mrs. Amenya is an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS). Prior to her appointment at UHAS, she was a tutor at St. Francis’ College of Education, Hohoe,¬ Volta Region. Between 2002 and 2016, she was an Adjunct Lecturer of the University of Education, Winneba, Post Diploma Distance Education programme at the St. Francis’ College of Education Cohort Centre, where she taught Food and Nutrition, Management in Living, and Entrepreneurship. She is a Home Economist and a trained HIV/AIDs educator on the World Education/Ghana programme since 2005.
Education
She obtained Bachelor of Education degree (Home Economics) Food and Nutrition option and a Master of Philosophy degree (Home Economics) Food and Nutrition option both from University of Cape Coast, Ghana, in 2002 and 2014 respectively. She was also awarded a Commonwealth Executive Masters in Business Administration from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2010.
Working Experience
She is a professional teacher and taught Pre-Vocational Skills for four years at the Junior High School level. She also had fourteen years teaching experience in teaching Home Economics (Food and Nutrition, Methodology of Teaching Catering) and HIV/AIDs Education at the College of Education. In 2005, she won the Regional Best Teacher Award, Volta, Colleges of Education category.
Research Output
Mrs. Amenya’s teaching/research and advocacy are in the areas of Nutrition and Health, Teacher Commitment and HIV/AIDS Education. She has two publications in two different International Journals. She is currently working on a paper titled, ‘Risk Management and Hospital Food Service: Food Safety Quality System of Healthcare in Ghana.’
