Dr. Evans Y. K. Ashigbi is Lecturer at the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Sciences, School of Allied Health Sciences, University of Health and Allied Sciences in Ghana. He is an experienced Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation professional with a history of working in healthcare, sports and academia. He is also a registrant of the Allied Health Professions Council, Ghana and a member of the Ghana Physiotherapy Association (GPA), the German Society of Sports Scientists (DVS), European College of Sports Science (ECSS) and the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM).
Education
Dr. Ashigbi has earned degrees from the University of Ghana (BSc- Physiotherapy), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi (MSc- Disability, Rehabilitation and Development), and the Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main, Germany (PhD- Sports Science).
Work Experience
Prior to his appointment at the University of Health and Allied Sciences, Dr. Ashigbi worked as a Principal Physiotherapist and head of the Physiotherapy unit of the Trust Hospital Company Limited in Accra. He previously worked as a senior Physiotherapist at the 37 Military Hospital and team Physiotherapist for Liberty Professionals Football Club.
Science/Research Interest
His research is focused on the prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries/reinjuries of the lower extremity, mobility disability and access to the built environment, physical activity and non-communicable diseases.
