Professor Ademokoya is a visiting scholar and the Coordinator for the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences, School of Allied Health Science, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. He teaches courses on speech pathologies/Therapies, hearing and audiological-related matters, professionalization and professionalism in speech therapy as well as audiology and special education-related courses.
Education
He obtained Bachelor of Education in speech pathology and audiology in University of Ibadan, Nigeria (1987), Masters of Education in Special Education (1990) and PhD in Education and Rehabilitation in Speech/Hearing impaired persons (1995).
Work Experience
He was the pioneering speech therapist of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology, University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, Nigeria, 1990 to 1994. He began his teaching career in August, 1994 as Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Special Education, University of Ibadan. He was promoted to Lecturer II in 1995, Lecturer I in 1998, senior Lecturer in 2001 and Professor in 2007. He was appointed Head of Department between 2008 and 2010. He has also been a member or headed various committees at Faculty and University levels. He is a member of the Medical Rehabilitation Therapist Board of Nigeria and the President of Speech Pathologists and Audiologists Association in Nigeria. He delivered his inaugural lecturer on 4th August, 2016 on the topic; ‘Hear well, Speak well and Learn well’. He is member of the Senate, University of Ibadan.
Science/Research Output
Professor Ademokoya has been involved in several research activities particularly on etiologies and typologies of communication disorders, education and rehabilitation of speech/hearing disordered persons as well as special needs persons. He has over sixty publications.
